Jasper man accused of taking another’s identity – We busted this guy!

The Jasper Police Department arrested a man Wednesday and accused him of stealing a Texas resident’s identifying information. Mendoza Police said they received information from the individual who resides in Texas indicating someone working in Jasper was using his identifying information. The Texas man’s name, birthday and Social Security number were all being used by someone to gain employment, police said.After an investigation, police went to the workplace of 36-year-old Juan Manuel Soni Mendoza, of 3828 N. Portersville Road, and took him into custody at 1:15 p.m.

Numerous forms of identification determined to be false were located in Mendoza’s possession, police said. Officers also found Mendoza possessed two bank debit cards issued to the fraudulent name he had allegedly been using.Mendoza now faces preliminary Level 6 felony counts of identity deception, synthetic identity deception and fraud. Authorities booked Mendoza into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:52 p.m.
